Kasey Kahne set to make SRX debut at Berlin

Kasey Kahne, recently inducted into the list of 75 Greatest NASCAR Drivers of all time, will make his Superstar Racing Experience debut at Berlin Raceway, Michigan, on August 3. His entry was announced via a press release through their official Twitter handles. It will be the third race of Tony Stewart’s racing championship’s 2023 season.

Getting Kasey into SRX was a goal of mine from day one of last year. He is an amazing talent, gone from the scene way too early for some to know just how really good he is. I am really happy and excited he is coming to Berlin Raceway, joining a field of Superstars up in Michigan. The fans are the real winners with this one,” said SRX Chief Executive Officer Don Hawk.

Kahne will be in for a hard fight at Berlin as two of his former Cup championship-winning drivers will line up against him on the race day. The first will be Stewart Haas Racing veteran Kevin Harvick, who will retire from NASCAR at the end of the 2023 season. RCR driver Kyle Busch, the two times Cup champion, will also join the party.

Kahne, one of the most talented drivers of his generation, ended his NASCAR career that lasted 15 years in 2018 due to health reasons and then made a comeback to race in the Late Model series. The 18 times Cup race champion is a proven winner in all the championships he raced for, and he hopes to add an SRX race trophy to his cabinet.

The SHR co-owner and his team have made SRX one of the prominent mid-week series in the USA. The management secured a lucrative ESPN ‘Saturday Night Thunder’ deal for the race’s broadcast. The widening audience and smart marketing strategies of the series have been attracting retired and active legends of the sport to have a go in the championship.

The series gives all the drivers the same car, and it’s up to them to produce their best on the track. It’s getting more attention from the fans as the short-track racing in the premier division is losing its mojo. Busch and Harvick drivers, such as Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski, will also make their race debut this season. Semi-retired veterans such as  Ryan Newman, Kenny Wallace, and Helio Castroneves are also racing in the series.
