The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season marked an end of an era, as Kevin Harvick, the last active driver to race in the non-playoff era decided to retire. Despite ending the year winless, he had a consistent and impressive farewell season. His long-time sponsor upped their game and honored Harvick with special paint schemes and other projects.

Most of Harvick’s sponsors remained committed to the sport and decided to support other drivers on the grid. Harvick’s most iconic sponsor Busch Light did the same. They signed Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain for the 2024 season and beyond. The No:1 Chevy sported the iconic Busch Light blue paint scheme, an updated version of the scheme Harvick has been using,

Harvick, who is now working as a broadcaster at Fox Sports, pointed out that he initially found it a bit strange to see another driver in the Busch Light car. But he went on to point out that at the end of the day, he made the call to end his career. He is proud to see Chastain in the Busch Light fire suit and believes they are in the right hands.

It was a little bit strange…But it still was a little bit interesting to see the No. 1 on the side of the Busch Light car and everything that came with the transition to Ross — seeing him in his suit and [feeling] a little bit different, but also kind of proud to be able to be a part of the brand and everything for so long and see that tradition continue. That’s always what you fear the most is you see the brands disappear from the sport. So, Busch Light’s done a great job of supporting our sport for a long time, and they’re in good hands now.

Kevin Harvick sees Ross Chastain as the right guy to carry the brand

Chastain is one of the most gifted drivers in the current grid and since joining Trackhouse Racing in 2022 has established himself as a championship contender given the right car.  He has won four Cup races in his career and has the best championship finish of P2 from 2022.

Harvick while talking about Chastain’s racing style and how it will match Busch Light, pointed out that the Chevy driver is the right choice for the brand.  He backed his point by highlighting Chastain’s capability to drive the hell out of the car.

So being able to know that there’s going to be somebody that’s going to drive the heck out of the car every single lap — and that’s really what the brand wants. And you put that in with the with the Trackhouse guys and everything that they do from the marketing side, it’s a great fit with everything that Busch Light does on and off the race track.
