With his impressive wins at Richmond and Michigan on consecutive weekends, Chris Buescher has proven that he is one of the most talented drivers in the garage who could fight for the title given the right car. He played a huge role in RFK Racing’s evolution into one of the best, if not the best Ford team in the garage this season.

Now his fellow Ford driver and the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick has come forth claiming that the garage often overlooks the No:17 Mustang pilot. He pointed out that the former Xfinity series champion is among the best at caring for the car and extracting results in races beyond the car’s true potential.

I think he’s definitely overlooked. He takes care of his cars and always finds a way to make more out of it than probably is there. He’s really good at what he does and just knows how to race, and that’s the biggest thing that you see is he knows how to finish races and put himself in a better spot than he probably sometimes should be just because of his race craft,” Kevin Harvick is quoted by The Athletic.

What Buescher did in the last two weekends is a copy-paste of what the Stewart Haas Racing legend did the last season. Harvick secured back-to-back wins on the same track last season to earn a playoff entry. But the veteran driver was unlucky, as he got eliminated in the round of 16 itself, and Brad Keselowski’s driver will be hoping to avoid a similar fate.

Chris Buescher’s crew chief pin-points what makes Scott Graves different

Scott Graves, who was appointed as the No:17 crew chief this season, when asked what makes his driver different from the other driver in the Cup garage during Road Course races, pin-pointed his smooth driving style as the difference maker.

He’s just really smooth, and he just keeps the car on the track, first thing. There’s a lot of nuances about road-course racing and getting apexes right and all that kind of stuff, and he does seem to pick it up really from the beginning,” Graves said.

Graves echoed what Harvick already said, that Buescher is a driver capable of outperforming expectations by caring for the car. He has the best opportunity to showcase those skills in the coming two road curse races at Indy and Watkins Glen, which can ensure him some points for a deep playoff run.
