In 2011, Kyle Busch was suspended for a deliberate collision during the NASCAR Truck Series race in Texas. He intentionally wrecked the title contender Ron Hornaday Jr. under caution, which caused him to spin and crash into the outside wall. It was on lap 15 when Busch made contact with the car as he tried to go three-wide around a slower truck and put Hornaday Jr. out of the race.

However, this deliberate action by Busch came as retaliation for a previous incident involving the duo. Recently, a video of Kyle Busch emerged online. He spoke about the time Ron Hornaday Jr. cost him a shot at the Busch Series championship in 2004. After seven years, in 2011, Busch had the chance to settle the scores and intentionally wrecked into Ron Hornaday Jr. while he was fighting for the championship.

In the video, Kyle Busch stated, “That same guy (Ron Hornaday Jr.) cost me a shot at the championship in the Busch Series back in 2004. But nobody remembers that, but I do.” Hornaday’s collision with Busch in 2004  made other drivers angry as well. It affected their race as Busch collected Martin Truex Jr., who later became his teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing and others.

Kyle Busch took his revenge on Ron Hornaday Jr. seven years later in 2011. However, NASCAR parked him after the incident as he sent Hornaday into the wall. The latter was furious with Busch and said it was ignorant and stupid. Busch, on the other hand, was unapologetic about the incident. He said he was there to win races and lost his cool after being wrecked four weeks in a row.

NASCAR took action by suspending Kyle Busch from the Nationwide race at Texas Motor Speedway. His team Joe Gibbs Racing took full responsibility for their driver’s actions and addressed the situation. Following that, Busch wrote a letter to the NASCAR community apologizing for his behavior during the Truck race in Texas.

Meanwhile, Micheal McDowell replaced Kyle Busch for the race. NASCAR also announced that they fined Busch $50,000 and placed him on probation for the rest of the season. However, Joe Gibbs helped Kyle Busch with his career after the Texas incident.
