Kyle Busch wants to be the last driver to win a Cup race at Auto Club before the re-pavement, just like he did at Bristol in 2008

The track will undergo redevelopment after the 2023 Cup race.

The NASCAR garage is at Fontana for the final Cup race hosted at the Auto Club Speedway before the re-configuration. The 2-mile Oval will be shortened, and NASCAR has already sold the land around the track premises to fund the initiative. ACS is one of the all-favorite tracks among drivers, and for many, like Kyle Busch, the final race is special.

The drivers have to be on their toes to win races at ACS. Tire management, lane changes, and decision-making on track play a major role. The track isn’t necessarily a crowd favorite as the field gets easily spread within a few laps, which limits green flag passes and bumper-to-bumper racing.

The No:8 RCR Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver Kyle Busch is one of the most successful drivers at the track. He has won the race 4 times from 23 starts, has an average finish of 9, and ranks on top among the active drivers. He has scored a finish outside the top 20 in just 5 races in his career at ACS. So he wants to win the final race in the current layout, just like he won the Bristol Cup race before the development in 2008.

I love Auto Club Speedway. I’ve known it as California Speedway for a long, long time. I obviously love the layout. I like the two-mile oval. I think it’s unique. I think it’s special. I would certainly love to win the last one on the big track. That would be awesome. I was the last to win on the Bristol surface before they redid it in 2008,” Kyle Busch said.

Busch scored his first Cup series pole and cup race win at the Auto Club, and since then, he has loved racing at the track. He believes the track suits his driving style, and the luxury of having five lanes run makes the event better.

I think Auto Club Speedway has been a really good track for me over the years because I like the track. I like going out there, I like the west coast, it’s a fun track. It’s a driver’s track. You can really move around. There are five lanes, and you can run all of them, but one of my favorite lines to run is obviously up against the wall, that fifth lane,” Kyle Busch said.

It’s a really cool track to be able to do that, and you’re always trying to set yourself as fast as you can right up against the wall as close as you can, and that’s where you get to make your most time. It’s really a fun track for the drivers,” Kyle Busch added.
