Ryan Truex, the younger brother of former Cup Series Champion Martin Truex Jr., had come close to a win in the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck series over the course of his racing career. However, the 31-year-old failed to claim a victory until now. Truex won his first NASCAR race after 188 starts across all three national series. He was victorious at the Xfinity race on Saturday at Dover Motor Speedway.
Truex competes part-time in the Xfinity Series. He drives the No.19 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing. He put on a brilliant show dominating at his home track. The younger brother of the 2017 Cup Series champion led 124 of the 200 laps. Truex has not won in his 26 Cup starts. He is also winless in his 73 Truck Series starts. However, after 86 races, he got his first win in the Xfinity Series.
Ryan Truex stated, “This is for everyone that doubted me. I belong here. I just proved that. Most people didn’t believe in me, and I still did. Just so thankful to be here. Just amazing. I was just waiting for something to happen. I was praying, please God, let me get to the end of this.” It was an emotional ride for Truex. He could barely get words out of his mouth.

Ryan Truex is on “cloud nine” after securing his first NASCAR win
Truex added, “I was a wreck coming across the line. It’s been a long road. Honestly, I’m on cloud nine. The weight off my shoulders is unexplainable. To dominate in a car that good, oh my God, it’s just amazing.” Right before Truex parked his car in the victory lane, his older brother, Martin Truex Jr., stuck his head in the window and congratulated him.
The Mayetta, New Jersey native finished 17th at Talladega Superspeedway last Saturday. It was his worst finish of the season. Truex has only one more race left in the Xfinity Series this season. However, he proved people wrong and won his first NASCAR race. It was a moment of celebration for him. Josh Berry finished second and Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, and John Hunter Nemechek completed the top five at Dover Motor Speedway.
Ryan Truex has 30 top-ten finishes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He has 22 top tens and two pole positions in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. However, his Cup Series run was not very impressive. He ran 26 races over two years without any top-ten finishes and poles. Despite everything, Truex did not give up and waited for his turn patiently and got his first NASCAR win.
