NASCAR’s recent outing in California’s 1.99 miles Sonoma Raceway Road Course was somewhat a quiet affair compared to the earlier races as it lacked the fire and revelry of the previous races. But the end of the race was a special and historic, something most of the NASCAR fans would agree upon, as Daniel Suarez in his No:99 Chevy Camaro ZL1 crosse the finish line ahead of Chris Buescher to become the first-ever Mexican to win a cup race.

Daniels Suarez was born and brought up in Mexico, which is not known for its Motorsport racing scene had to go through a lot to stand in the victory lane holding the winner’s medal in his hand. One of the earliest graduates of Drive for Diversity, Suarez had to overcome the cultural and lingual barriers to establish himself as a worthy driver to invest in the Cup Series, which he made happen by winning the Xfinity Series championship.

In recent years, Mexican racers have been making the country proud in the international racing scenes with Formula one Super Star Sergio Perez and Daniel Suarez as the flag bearers. Nicknamed ’Checco’ Sergio Perez who drives for Red Bull has been a major presence within the racing scene while Suarez’s contributions went unnoticed as he wasn’t able to get a win in the cup series, but with his Sonoma Victory he has made his country proud.
