Front Raw Motorsports No:34 Ford Mustang driver Michael McDowell has claimed that he will piss off some people in the round of 16, the first round of the playoff. The Daytona 500-winning driver ended his winless streak of over 90 races in Indy to secure his maiden win in the Next-Gen car era over HMS’s Chase Elliott.
McDowell was creating team history left and right at IMS. It was the most dominant win ever in the sport’s history for FRM. The 54 laps lead is the most they have ever led in the Cup series, 20 more than the previous mark. The race also produced the longest green flag run in road course history, with the last 77 of 82 laps being run with no cautions.
While talking to the media after the win, McDowell gave his opinion on his shot at going deep in the playoff. He pointed out he knows his team will not be contenders in all the ovals, but they will be fighting for Top 10s in the ovals and will be contenders in RC and Superspeedways. McDriver added that he would piss off some drivers in the R16 by advancing to the Next round.
“We know we’re not going to go to every racetrack and win. We know that. We know where we’re at, but we can 10th at almost every oval, and we can win at superspeedways and road courses,” McDowell said, as reported by Fox Sports.
“And if we keep building on this, we’re going to be not just in the playoffs. We’ll advance. Are we going to be a Championship 4 team [vying for the title at the season finale]? I don’t know. But I bet you we’ll piss some people off in that first round,” McDowell added.

Michael McDowell’s crew chief calls him one of NASCAR’s best on road courses

McDowell crew chief Travis Peterson has pointed out that his driver is one of the best road course races in the sport. The Indy result is the only thing that needs to be shown to validate the claim, as alongside his dominance, the driver he topped are the best in the business.
P2 finisher Chase Elliott is NASCAR’s third most successful RC driver and had a superior Hendrick Motorsports car. Daniel Suarez, who secured P3, has already won a Cup road course event, and the Trackhouse Road Course package is superior to many. Another RC maestro, Tyler Reddick finished P4 in a lighting-fast 23XI Toyota.
“Obviously, Chase is great, and I think Michael could be considered one of the best road racers in the business. He just hasn’t always had the best opportunities,” said Travis Peterson, who joined McDowell at the start of the 2023 seaosn after his firmer crew chief’s exit.
