“Momentum is going to be tough to beat and the track is aging too,” Chase Elliott lists out the challenges he expects to face this weekend at Kansas

Chase Elliott was the Championship favorite when the first round of postseason racing saw the green field on Sunday at Darlington. The 2021 cup series champion had All the momentum to ride on as he entered the playoff with a huge point advantage over the rest of the grid with his regular season championship wins.
But going into the second playoff race at Kansas the No:9 Hendrick Motorsports driver has lost the gavage and is just one of the front runners as he missed out on big time failing to finish the race at Darlington after he crashed out at Lap 113 and the hi to his rear by fellow racer Chase Briscoe was beyond repair to get back to racing.
The No:9 driver will have a shot at redemption this weekend at Kansas and will be hoping to start of his postseason with a win that can assure his progress to the coming playoff rounds. Chase Elliott has now come forth expressing his thoughts about his upcoming outing at Kansas.

Chase Elliott pointed out that the Kansas track typically has some grove options especially when it is cooler and pointed out that the outside lane gets dominance once the temperature goes up. He added that to him the track feels more like a one and half a mile as he feels it’s tighter train the rest of the simar tracks.
“Kansas (Speedway) is a place that typically has some groove options. It seems like the cooler it is, the more groove options we have. When it’s hotter, the outside lane tends to become more dominant. To me, that place feels like a shorter mile-and-a-half for some reason – it just feels a little tighter than some of the other ones,” Chase Elliott said.
Chase Elliott went on to say that momentum is going to be tough to beat in the track that is already aging and added that the aether alternating between hot and cold has aged the track more. He added that the outside lane might give more momentum to the drivers on the race day.
“Momentum is going to be tough to beat and the track is aging too. They have some pretty hot summers and some pretty harsh winters, so that place is getting some age to it now. Typically as those tracks age, momentum starts to be king over time and that outside lane tends to give you that,” Chase Elliott added.
Chase Elliott acknowledged that if the weather isn’t perfect the outside lane will become more dominant and pointed out that the cold can beak pp the momentum. He added that the fight will be for track positions and how well drivers can get around the top lanes.
“I think as time goes the top will continue to be more and more dominant unless you just have that perfect weather situation where it’s cool and the short way around has enough grip to not break the momentum. It’s going to be a fight for track position and how well you can get around the top,” Chase Elliott explained.
