Dover Motor speedway Cup Race
NASCAR hit the Dover Motor Speedway for the 11th round of the Cup Race as fans were eager to see the Next-Gen cars hit the Monster Mile concrete track for the first time. The uncertainty over how the cars will perform on the tracks made it one of the most anticipated and potentially challenging races on the schedule.
But fans and teams were in for a disappointing outcome as heavy rains made NASCAR postpone the race to the coming Monday EST at 12 PM. The Duramax Drydene 400 had an amazing start but there wasn’t enough light when NASCAR finally dried the track and got it ready for racing after the rain delay.
Reigning NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Larson led the race at the final lap that was raced today, Lap 78, against his Hendrick Motorsport teammate Chase Elliott followed by Ryan Blaney, and Martin Truex Jr. at respective positions. Polesitter Chris Buescher was overtaken by JGR driver 19 laps and the Richmond winner lead the other 55 laps until he pitted giving away his lead to Kyle Larson who stayed there until the rain stoppage came in.
