Richard Childress owns RCR, one of NASCAR’s most iconic and dominant cup teams, and has purchased a Bull Riding league team. He and his business partner Jeff Broin purchased the Carolina Cowboys. They are one of the eight Franchises in the Professional Bull Riders Team Series.

The Hall of Fame team owner started his NASCAR venture in 1969. He competed in the series as a driver from 1969 to 1981. Childress earned NASCAR success as an owner with Dale Earnhardt as his driver. They won a historic 7-cup championship. RCR has visited the victory lane 113 times in its history.

Richard Childress already had a stake in the Cowboys last season. His grandson and cup driver Austin Dillon was appointed as the general manager after a partial takeover which is now complete. Childless love for the western lifestyle is a reason behind the takeover.

“I’ve always been a fan of the Western lifestyle, but the new team’s concept kicks up the excitement and has proven in its inaugural year to be a strong step forward for the future of bull riding,” Richard Childress said.

RCR is on its way back to the NASCAR elite teams list. They had been lacking in terms of cup performances since Harvick’s glory in 2013. The 2022 season so them making a comeback but it also marked a big driving change.

Tyler Reddick who led RCR’s comeback with 3 cup race wins left the team to sign for 23XI Racing. JGR legend Kyle Busch replaced him following a long dramatic period. Reddick was one of the most promising piolets in Chevy garage, and his exit is a big miss. But he left the team in a great spot for Busch to chase victory as soon as he came in.

Kyle Busch is coming to RCR following an underwhelming year with JGR on and off track. To ensure success, they desperately need,  RCR to step up and provide him with all the opportunities to deliver. No:3 driver Austin Dillon also needs to level up his game. With the number of opportunities given to him at RCR thorough out his cup career, Dillon needs to prove that his Grandfather was right to give him this opportunity.
