Presently aged 90, Farmer is still deeply in love with racing and often returns to the race track. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2022.

Farmer has held onto his talents and commitment to compete despite his age. He competed in 2 Grand National Series races in 1992. Aged 80 in 2005, he shocked the entire motorsport fraternity by winning a heat over the current NASCAR Sprint Cup stars race. As of 2022, Farmer regularly competes in a late model at Talladega with his grandson, Lee Burdett.
