Kyle Busch has never been fortunate at the Daytona 500, and the 2024 edition of the event was no different. This time, a late race pit-stop mistake hindered his progress. Their Hall of Fame team owner, Richard Childress, was furious to see his team making such costly mistakes at a vital moment of the race.

Busch came in for a quick pit stop at the starting laps of Stage 3. As soon as he left the pit box, sparks were seen coming off his right front tire. The tire changer was spotted hustling to complete the task and was seen working on the tire when Busch was already moving out. The No:8 Chevy driver had to nurse his car for one entire lap to return to the pit to fix it.

Richard Childress, who was frustrated to see the mess by his team, ranted on the team radio, targeting the tire carrier and changer who were assigned the front tires. He asked them to get their sh*t together in some colorful language, showing the legendary team owner still has the fire in him as he did years ago.

Austin Dillon had an early crash in the race

For Kyle Busch’s teammate, Austin Dillon, the start to the race was disastrous. He was involved in a big crash on lap six of the race and, alongside Ryan Preece of Stewart Haas Racing, went multiple laps down in the race.

A poor push from 2012 NASCAR Cup champion Brad Keselowski on the young Harrison Burton triggered the incident. The incident collected Dillon, rookie Carson Hocevar, and part-time Kaz Grala, marking an end to their races.

It marked a disappointing start to the season for the Spire Motorsports rookie Carson Hocevar, as his Daytona 500 debut lasted just six laps. He might be hoping to make a comeback like Dillon at Atlanta next week.
