Trackhouse Racing’s driver Ross Chastain has established himself as one of the best drivers in the garage in 2022. Last season’s championship runner-up is eying bigger accolades in 2023. He is now a fan favorite not just because of his on-track exploits but because of the character and personality he brings to the table.

He has become the biggest heal in the current grid, and his right-hooking rookie Noah Gragson last Sunday at Kansas underlined it. The NASCAR community is becoming either a fan or hater of the Chevy driver. 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson predicts that Chastain can one day become more popular than his teammate Chase Elliott.

HMS No:9 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver is the face of the current NASCAR grid. The 2020 Cup champion inherited his championship-winning father, Bill Elliott’s fanbase. Bill has won 16 Most Popular Driver awards, which makes him an all-time winner. Chase Elliott has won awards over the last five years and remains undisputed. Larson believes that Chastain will soon enough will dethrone his teammate.

Obviously, I was upset with him two weeks ago, but I kind of love it. I think Ross is great. I mean, at this point (how good) he is sort of owning it. I think he’s got the potential to be more popular than Chase Elliott, so I think it’s awesome. He’s moving the needle.
Kyle Larson said in the Hight Limit Podcast.

Chastain and Elliott are desperate to score a win in 2023

While Kyle Larson has already secured a spot in this season’s playoffs with his two-victory lane visits, his Chevy teammates are yet to do so. Both drivers are fighting hard each race to score that all-important that could help them to be free of the uncertainty over playoff spots if they are winless.

Chase Elliott missed out on six crucial races this season due to an injury, and the 2022 Regular season champion’s only way to secure a playoff berth is to win a race. He has remained consistent since making a comeback at Bristle Dirt, but a victory visit won’t be easy. He will have to overcome the pressure to deliver as race weeks passes on.

Ross Chastain has been making handwaves for all the wrong reasons in 2023. His aggressive driving, what some of his rivals deem as hyper aggression and some of the crashes that happened because he has given him a bad name.

Regardless of all these heats, he has been a consistent top-10 finisher but is yet to convert them to a win. He was a two-race winner at the same time last season, and it’s been over a year since he went to victory lane.
