While it is widely believed that machinery is the most important factor in motorsports, people often overlook the importance of the tracks where that machinery is supposed to run. From Darlington Raceway to Daytona, every track has its characteristics and history, making all of them unique. Recently, Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain has named his favorite top-three tracks in NASCAR.
Talking to Fox Sports ahead of the race at Darlington, Chastain revealed his top three tracks to be Bristol, Kansas, and Darlington, in that order. He also added Homestead to the list due to the track being close to his hometown in Florida. He claimed that while his performance does not particularly improve on these tracks, he likes racing there.
“Just because. I’m not overly great at any of them… But, gosh, I just love making laps at them and I’ve watched more YouTube clips of races way before my time in the sport or even as a fan or even being alive… I just genuinely enjoy watching cars go around that track,” Chastain told Fox Sports.
Chastain kicked off the 2023 Playoffs with a decent P5 finish at Darlington. He is currently tenth in the Cup Series standings and will surely be looking to make his way back to the Championship Four this time around.

Ross Chastain opens up about his chances of securing the Cup Series Championship in 2023

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs are well underway, with the first race at Darlington having many dramatic moments. As the grid heads to Kansas Speedway, Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain has opened up about his chances of bagging his first-ever Cup Series Championship.
Chastain expressed his satisfaction with the race at Darlington. He claimed that they had initially got off to a poor start but still managed to gain positions and take P5. He claimed that if it was a 600-mile race, there was a chance that he might have even won the race. Chastain also showed confidence in his teammate Daniel Suarez, who missed Playoff qualification by a small margin to Bubba Wallace.
Chastain claimed that Suarez’s camp will be helping him throughout the post-season. “We didn’t start the race or the weekend at Darlington how we wanted, but man, like just give us 500 miles of a Cup race and we’ll have a shot,” said Chastain.
