Ross Chastain now has the hardest job of staying in the elite bracket he put himself in with his 2022 run
Ross Chastain
The 2022 season was the breakout season of Trackhouse Racing and its driver Ross Chastain. The watermelon man produced the best performance of his NASCAR career and proved to the cup garage that he belongs among the best of the sport. Chastain ended his season P2 finish in the championship in his postseason debut.
Chastain scored 2 wins in the earlier half of the season, and his consistent runs following those victories were enough to secure a championship four entry. He finished 26 races he started inside the top 20, in which 13 were top 5s, and 6 were top 10s. He finished the last four races of the season inside the top 5.
The season’s highlight for Chastain was his video game-inspired move to Martinsville. That day Chastain showcased his skill and attitude toward racing. He has established himself as one of the top contenders in the sport. The o:1 Camaro ZL1 driver now had to maintain the performance level in the coming years.
“The hardest part for us now is we’ve arrived — how do we stay here? I think that will be the most challenging thing we’ve ever done. We thought 2022 was challenging but maintaining that level of competition with these teams that have done it for a long time may be our biggest challenge yet. But look at what we did this year. We’ve got every shot to do it again,” Ross Chastain said.

Chastain has revealed that he focuses more on performance-based gaols than just number-based gaols while arcing. “I don’t have number-based goals. I haven’t for a long time. I used to, but I’ve learned it’s unhealthy for me. So, it’s not number-based. It’s just to go compete and beat these guys. Sometimes that’s fifth, sometimes that’s 12th, sometimes that’s winning,”.
He pointed out that number-based goals might make g too hard on yourself during a bad patch of runs. He said, “Wherever that is, for me, it won’t be numbers-based. And I’m glad that I’ve built that into me because you can get so caught up if you’re on a bad stretch or have some failures mechanically or behind the wheel in crashes or bad finishes. It will snowball…,”.
He also pointed out that Trackhouse Racing focuses on the competition side. Chastain said, “I don’t know what the goals will be internally at Trackhouse, but for me, it won’t be numbers-based. It’ll be the competition side,”.
