The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series finale at Phoenix was headlined by three drivers: race winner Ross Chastain, Cup champion Ryan Blaney, and veteran Kevin Harvick. The SHR driver took the limelight as it was his retirement race, while the other two produced an impressive race for the win on the track.

The last laps of the race featured an impressive battle between Ryan Blaney and Ross Chastain that saw them share some respective blows. The Trackhouse Racing driver wasn’t ready to give up his lead despite him not being in the Championship-4 while Blaney was desperately charging behind him to secure the title.

During this battle, with just 56 laps left in the race, Blaney was spotted giving the middle finger to Chastain while running one-two. Blaney was really in a safe sport at that moment, as Martin Truex Jr. was behind him holding off his Champiosnhip-4 rivals Kyle Larson and Willaim Byron.  Blaney had the best shot at being more aggressive and closing down Chastain during the period.

The battle between Chastain and Blaney should be appreciated, as the No:1 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver raced the Blaney clean. It can be considered a blueprint for drivers to race the Championship 4 for the win, giving them the respect they deserve without compromising the charge for the race win.

Ross Chastain’s bucket list moment came to an end after Phoenix

Chastain, after the race, gave a nod to Kevin Harvick and the impressive career he had. He noted that he cherishes the moments he shared with the SHR and RCR legend on the track. The Florida native recalled his childhood days when he raced Harvick’s car in NASCAR games.

Racing him early in the race was a bucket list, the little kid in me. Racing that 2005 (NASCAR) game, I drove the No. 29 GM Goodwrench car (Harvick’s first Cup car with Richard Childress Racing). Now I’m driving a Chevy for GM to Victory Lane, a Camaro.
Chastain said, as reported by RACER.

The Chevy driver has an opportunity to continue the legacy of Harvick, as he will be sponsored by Bush Light from 2024. They were the long-time sponsors of Harvick, and they signed Chastain as their ambassador for the future as they identified him as a suitable replacement.
