The No. 12 Ford Mustang Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney ended his long winless streak by winning the iconic Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Though he secured a playoff spot thanks to his victory, he has a goal for the upcoming Indy race. Blaney is preparing for the Verizon 200 At The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is a track owned by his Team Penske boss, Roger Penske, who bought it in 2020.
As a result of Team Penske’s connection with the track, one might think there is more pressure on Ryan Blaney to win the race. Though he said it has always been important to the team to win the Indy race even before Roger bought the track, Blaney believes it would be even more special now. And his goal is to win for his boss, Roger Penske.
Ryan Blaney told Fox Sports, “It was always a big emphasis to win there before he didn’t own it. And it wasn’t really talked about in the race shop. You just knew, right? Everyone knew the goal trying to win in a place that’s special to Roger. And now that he owns it, I think it’s even more important for us to go try to do well and win. And especially with the IndyCar guys being with us that weekend [racing Saturday at IMS].”

Blaney added, “That little doubleheader, that’d be cool to win for Roger on the same track on the same weekend. It was nice to accomplish that Indy 500-Coke 600 sweep earlier in May. But it’d be really cool to do it on the same weekend with all those guys there.” The 29-year-old Ohio native believes the IndyCar drivers might stick around for the NASCAR Cup race. He hopes they get the job done on Saturday, and he will try to do it on Sunday.
Ryan Blaney confessed that they didn’t talk about winning on this track in the Penske race shop, as it is implied. He feels that everyone works really hard to get a race win. And it would be a special weekend if he could win for Roger at his favorite track. There is no doubt that Blaney is happy to be a part of Team Penske and will do his best to make his boss smile.
Ryan Blaney praised Roger Penske for achieving everything in motorsports. He said it was his 19th Indy 500 and third Coca-Cola 600 race. The 29-year-old confessed that Roger Penske was over the moon with Josef Newgarden’s Indy 500 win and his 600 win. Ryan Blaney feels it is “cool” to be a part of his boss’ career and hopes to contribute to his achievements.
