Kevin Harvick had a complete overhaul to his season in August after he came back from nearly missing out on the playoff, owing to his winless run, to winning two consecutive races and cementing his playoff spot along with championship contendership in the process. The No:4 Stewart Hass Racing Ford Mustang visited the victory lane twice at the Michigan and Richmond ovals.

Kevin Harvick‘s come back is really special for the driver and his fans, as after a certain part of the season he faced constant criticism calling him unproductive and making comments like the veteran’s time at the highest level of NASCAR is over and the issues the No:4 pit crew had along the way only made things worse. But now, the team and the driver had seen a drastic change which can be attributed to their success.

Regardless of the comments from the NASCAR community that the team has undergone some drastic changes the SHR crew chief and driver disagree they have gone through any such changes. The No:4 teams crew chief Childers backed this opinion saying, “Nobody really ever changed a lick. Every single morning, we act the same. We talk about the same things of what we need to do better and when we need to do it,”.

But former Championship-winning Crew Chief of Jimmie Johnson, Chad Knaus, has a different opinion as he called out the driver and crew chief duo for lying, on the NASCAR Race Hub show, regarding how they achieved recent success without implementing any drastic changes.

Chad Kanus replying to Shannon Spake, the host of the NASCAR race hub, acknowledged that the duo is lying about doing the same thing they have done all season to achieve the success they got right now. He backed his statement by pointing out that he once wrote out Harvick from his list of championship contenders following his poor run at the start of the season.

Those are lies. Lies, I tell you. Because something has changed. And I have to eat a tremendous amount of crow, quite honestly, because I stood here on a Race Hub a month and a half ago. I said the 4 car of Kevin Harvick won’t win a race before the playoffs because they had not shown me at that point anything to provide me thoughts that they could be competitive at that level,” Chad Knaus said.

Chad Kanus went on to say that the No:4 team has been fantastic in the last couple of weeks and pointed out that he didn’t expect them to win at Michigan, as he called the race in favour of a Toyota team. He added that the pit-stop strategy and the pace they were able to get were enough advantages for the team to get in front and get the all-important win.

What they’ve done the last couple of weeks has been fantastic. Obviously, Michigan is a very difficult race track. It is a ‘Ford-style race track.’ I think all of us would have picked a Toyota to probably have won that race, standing from afar, to begin with. Pit stop strategy, all of that, they get out front, they’re able take advantage of that. They’re super-fast,” Chad Knaus added.

Chad Knaus went on to appreciate the No:4 for the incredible job they have done so far and pointed out that they have definitely made some changes. “ So, my hats off to those guys. They’ve done great. And something has changed,”.
