NASCAR will hit the Texas Motor Speedway for the Al-Star race this Sunday where the champion drivers will go at each other for the one-million-dollar prize money.  But the race centered around one track for years has invited criticism from the NASCAR community. The race which was supposed to rotate among multiple tracks bringing the NASCAR extravaganza to the fans has been long hosted by a particular track.

The first All-Star race was held in Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1985 and was moved to Atlanta the following season only to see it return to Charlotte, staying there until 2019. In 2020 Bristol hosted the All-Star race following Covid-19 concerns and it was shifted there. In 2021 the race was awarded to the Texas motor speedway for surrendering one of their regular cup races.

Now NASCAR Championship leader Chase Elliott has come forth calling out NASCAR for their lack of rotation in terms of the All-Star race as it returns to Texas Motor Speedway this Sunday.

He suggested that NASCAR should be following the other sports All-Star games do, as they usually rotate the location of the games.

We should rotate. I think that’s what that race was initially designed to do, was to move around and give fans in a different region a special event, like an All-Star Race, which I think is really cool. It’s what other All-Star Games do and other forms of sport,Chase Elliott said.

Chase Briscoe who will make his All-Star race debut at Texas on Sunday came out in support of Chase Elliott’s words saying NASCAR should shift the race location of the race in three or two years not necessarily in a year. He went on to say NASCAR can actually make are in the schedule as an All-Star race and try it out as he believes it will be a really cool concept.

I don’t know if we have to move it around every single year. But I think two or three years of one track (and) move to another one. I think that would be cool. Or even if it’s tracks that we’re thinking about maybe going to on the actual schedule itself. Put them as the All-Star Race and try it out,” Chase Briscoe said.
