‘Toyotas have really shown great speed on the mile-and-a-halves,’ Denny Hamlin secures the Coco-Cola 600 pole as Toyota dominates the track

Denny Hamlin drove around the Charlotte Motor Speedway with pace and determination which secured the No:11 Joe Gibbs Racing driver the pole for Sunday 600 mile long Coco-Cola 600 as his hunt for a second win of the season continues. The veteran topped the speed chart making the fastest lap of 183.680 mph (29.399s).
The top four positions in Sunday start will be held by the Toyotas as Denny Hamlin will be followed by his owned 23X1 Racing driver Kurt Busch and his Joe Gibbs teammates Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell. William Byron is the highest-ranked Chevy as he will start the race on P5 ahead of the highest-ranked Ford of Team Penske’s Austin Cindric and Kurt’s teammate Bubba Wallace at P7.
Now Denny Hamlin has come forth expressing his thoughts on the great day he and the JGR team had behind the wheels and what are his thoughts on the all-around performance put forth by the whole Toyota squad.

Denny Hamlin acknowledges that it has been a great day for him at charlotte so far as he finds the result to be the perfect scenario for him to have an ideal day. He went on to say his car ran well today since it was unloaded from the truck and the plan to run the low line through Turn 3 and 4 became the difference-maker for the team, about which he is happy.
“It’s been a great day. The end result is probably the perfect scenario for me to have an ideal day. Our car’s been good; it was good off the truck and we continued to tune on it quite a bit and then thought once this thing got into the night that you’d want to run the low line through (Turns) 3 and 4 and so I got as many reps as I could doing that and it looked like that was the difference-maker in the lap itself. I’m happy about it,” Denny Hamlin said.

Denny Hamlin acknowledges that the Toyotas have really shown great speed on mile and halves all year since the Las Vegas race and the trend of Toyota’s being the top 4 or 5 cars in 1.5 Mile has continued since then. He went on to say the team still has a lot of work to do on other tracks but added that it helps the fact the major part of the Cup Schedule having 1.5-mile races is a good thing for them. Denny Hamlin added that seeing all top 4 places held by Toyota for the first time since 2017 is a good feeling as a driver as well as a team owner.
“I think the Toyotas have really shown great speed on the mile-and-a-halves all year and it really started at Las Vegas early in the year. We were all really four or five of the best cars at that track. Really that trend has continued at most of the mile and a half,” Denny Hamlin said.
“We still have some work to do at the other tracks, but it’s very encouraging that this is the bulk of our schedule to be running well at these types of tracks. To see all the Toyotas upfront and haven’t had the top-four in qualifying since 2017, that’s a really cool thing. To have my little part in that on the ownership side is really cool,” Denny Hamlin added.
