Two times NASCAR Cup series champion Kyle Busch made headlines in the 2022 season, mainly for the wrong reasons. But in 2023, the tables have turned for the veteran as he makes the headlines for what he does best, outracing his NASCAR rivals. Busch had a poor 2022 season and a rough start to the 2023 off-season, including a detainment for unlawful gun carriage in Mexico.

He has started his 2023 NASCAR season on a high note, with back-to-back races in challenges in the Cup series before securing his first win at the Fontana Cup race. The No:8 Richard Childress Racing driver scored another win in the cup series with his team KBM, which switched Chevy garage with him. He also had strong Xfinity and Cup outings in Las Vegas.

Ahead of the race, Busch met up with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB co-owner Richard Petty. The seven times record champion had a great conversation with the new Chevy driver, and Busch later posted an image of them sitting trackside having a conversation on his Twitter page. Watching the current Hall of Famer and the future HOF together intrigued the garage.

Busch and Petty have a special relationship. Wirth his maiden win for RCR at Fontana, he broke Petty’s longstanding record of 18 straight seasons with at least a win. Busch also broke Petty’s all-time wins record (200) and is now the winningest NASCAR driver with 226 wins.  All of Petty’s wins came in the Cup series, while Busch’s wins are a combined total from his all three National series exploits.
