The 2023 season marks the NASCAR cup series debut of the two most promising prodigies—Ty Gibbs of  JGR and Noah Gregson of LEGACY M.C. The 2022 Xfinity series champion and runners-up had a slow start to their rookie season but are expected to produce big-time performances. Gibbs has the most pressure on his shoulders as he drives for an elite team like Joe Gibbs Racing.

Ty Gibbs replaced Kyle Busch, who left for RCR after 15 years of service that yielded two championships. The No:18 team became the No:54  and has produced some solid cars for the young Gibbs. Joe Gibbs’s grandson gave an interview to the RACER ahead of the Pala Casino 400 and revealed his dreams in NASCAR.

I want to be a multi-time champion. I want to be in the Hall of Fame. I want to be an owner. I want to be driving a bunch of different cars. I just want to do it all. I have a lot of stuff that I want to do. I’m all in,” Ty Gibbs said.

Gibbs has the best resources at his disposal to achieve those dreams. He is driving for a team with championship experience and a team that could field cars in any series if they want to. His vision of being a team will be achieved since he already had a stake in JGR. He has a long way to go before attaining the Hall of Fame and multiple championships.

What are Ty Gibbs’s goals for 2023, and how realistic are they?

As a rookie, Ty Gibbs is not expected to win championships in 2023, he has to prove his worth to the fans who claim he got the Cup because he is from the Gibbs family. The minimum goal Gibbs has set up for him is a playoff entry and a couple of wins.

For sure I think for me getting a couple of wins and going for a championship is the minimum for me. Like I said, I try to work as hard as I can, and if there is stuff I haven’t been doing good at, I want to fix all of that and be the best possible driver that I can. I want to make a lot of progress. I don’t ever really think of goals. I just take it every lap by lap and have a hell of a time,” Ty Gibbs said.

The youngster has inherited an impressive crew from Busch, and the team’s expertise will aid his chase for glory. The presence of two experienced Cup campaigners like Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin, as teammates and mentors will also play a significant role in Gibbs’s evolution to a championship challenger.
