The NASCAR Cup Series is the world’s premier stock car racing series and features controlled chaos, where drivers often race each other aggressively. As the cars and safety features evolved over the years, aggression increased. While most drivers race clean and get into incidents by accident, a certain group can’t stop themselves from getting involved in such incidents.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has recently named top-tier (Cup Series) drivers who he thinks come in this category. He labeled them the ‘sh*t stirrers’ via his podcast while listing them. The first on the list is Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain. According to Dale Jr., the No:1 Trackhouse Chevy driver is the captain of the infamous group.

I had a little group called 'The Sh*t Stirrers.' I mentioned all these guys. Chastain, he is kind of the captain of the sh*t stirrers. He is the captain of the team.Junior said via Dale Jr. download.
Chastain, who established himself as one of the most marketable faces of the sport in the last two seasons, is infamous for his risky and aggressive driving style. He created a lot of controversies over his clashes with Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott in the Next-Gen era. This driving style is arguably the only negative of a driver who will most probably end his career as a champion.
Who are Dale Jr.’s other sh*t stirrers?
Junior went on to name four more drivers in his five-aside team, and unsurprisingly, all of them were young drivers. The second one on the list was John Hunter Nemechek, who is set to drive for Legacy Motor Club and is known for getting himself into some unfortunate situations.
Junior them named Ty Gibbs, the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity series champion, who, since his debut, caused a lot of incidents in races. Junior pointed out that the incidents often happen when the JGR driver runs well upfront.
The last two on the list were Stewart Haas Racing’s Noah Gragson and Spire Motorsports rookie Carson Hocevar, a huge troublemaker. Junior equated this team to Michigan Tropics from Will Ferrell’s movie Semi-Pro.
On the team with Ross is Nemechek, Gibbs, when he runs really good, Gragson if he can have some good runs. And then probably the All-Star of sh*t stirrers team, maybe Hocevar. There are going to be some big moments.
