The inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at the World Wide Technology Raceway came to an end after a 300 miles long race which gave fans another second-time winner this season, Joey Logano, the full-time Cup Series driver of the No.22 Ford Mustang of Team Penske take his car to the victory lane yet again after winning the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway and now the Enjoy Illinois 300 at the Gateway.
But, another incident during the race became a hot topic soon as the race ended and that was the racing exhibited by Trackhouse Racing’s No.1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Ross Chastain who crushed Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin’s hope of contending for the win after rear-ending his No.11 Toyota Camry in lap 64 and then later wrecked Hendrick Motorsports’ No.9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Chase Elliott’s off turn 4 in lap 101 leaving both Hamlin and Elliott unhappy.
Here’s how fans reacted to the debatable driving showcased by Ross Chastain in NASCAR Enjoy Illinois 300 at WWTR
NASCAR fans had multiple opinions and many called out Ross Chastain for his driving but what happened later was that both Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin kind of gave Chastain a taste of his medicine and fans didn’t take it easy on either of them in the controversial incident and few fans were all over the place while few held all three guilties speaking about the lack of sportsmanship. Few fans even called out the No.3 Mustang driver Austin Dillon for squeezing Chastain between himself and Elliott and few also called out NASCAR for not involving and resolving the situation.
