“We deserved to be up there by the end of the race” Austin Cindric is “proud” of his P3 finish at Atlanta after “struggling pretty badly” at the start

NASCAR hit the tracks running once again this year at the Atlanta Motor speedway and the 1.5 miles intermediate track turned superspeedway saw Georgian Native and No:9 Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott winning the race exactly 30 years after his father, NASCAR legend Bill Elliott won at the track. Ross Chastain finished p2 behind Elliott under the yellow flag while Team Penske rookie Austin Cindric finished P2.
Austin Cindric, the N:2 Team Penske Racing Ford Mustang driver couldn’t have wished for a better start of the season in his rookie year as he won the season opener, the iconic Daytona 500, which also made him the first cup race winner in the Next-Gen car. Though Cindric has been impressive since achieving that feat with consistent top 15 finishes, he wasn’t able to convert that into Top 10 finishes.
But following the Sonoma Road Course, where he finished P5, Cindric had been having consistent top 10 finishes as he finished P7 in both Nashville and Road America and now has successfully kept the momentum running with his p3 finish in the intense race at Atlanta, which is a huge improvement considering the fact that he finished P32 in the last outing.
Find out what Austin Cindric had to say about his P3 finish

Austin Cindric, they were struggling pretty badly at the start and had to do little CPR with their car as he points out that the efforts put in by his crew enabled him to get out of that hole and put forth a good finish which he is proud for the team. He added that he was able to go from not being able to go full throttle on the track to running wide open to close down the front runners with the work done on the car.
“We had to do a little CPR there early. We were struggling pretty badly. We were pretty loose to start the race and I’m just proud of the effort from the guys on the 2 cars, being able to make the right adjustments and get us out of a hole there. We went from not being able to go full throttle by myself on the racetrack to being able to run close behind other guys wide-open, so I’m proud of that effort and proud of a top-three finish,” Austin Cindric said.
Austin Cindric went on to say that he felt like they deserved to be up there at the end of the race after they established some stock positions in the race and it was a solid race day for them. He added that he would have liked to see his Quick State, the brand which also sponsored the race, Sponsored Ford at the victory lane though the top 3 are good.
“I felt like we deserved to be up there by the end of the race after we established track positions. It was a solid day. I wish we could have gotten the Quaker State Ford in victory lane in the Quaker State 400, but a top-three is pretty good,” Austin Cindric added.
Austin Cindric went on to say that the finish was an improvement from the last outing at the track where he couldn’t and pointed out that racing here made more sense to him this time, though he isn’t sure whether it was because of the top 3 finish or the good car. He added that he enjoyed the race more than the one in March as handling seemed to be pretty hard right there.
“Well, I finished. That’s an improvement. I don’t know if it’s because I felt like our car was a little better or I ran more up front, but I definitely feel like the racing at least made more sense. Handling seemed to come into play and you could pick and choose your battles by how good you were versus kind of just being stuck. I enjoyed today’s race more than I did the spring,” Austin Cindric explained.
