Jimmie Johnson
Jimmie Johnson called an end to his full-time racing career last month. The racing veteran announced his retirement from his multiacre commitment to the IndyCar series. The racing fraternity is eager to see where the NASCAR legend ends up racing next season.
Jimmie Johnson is expected to take part in the Hendrick Motorsports LeMans entry. The probability of him being part of the team line-up is high because the veteran is their most successful cup investment. He has won a record 7 NASCAR cup championships with HMS with five of them coming in consecutive years.
He is also rumored to race in championships in Europe, hoping to find new challenges. He is expected to partake in some NASCAR and IndyCar races along the way. Now, the semi-retired driver has come forth to express his views on his racing career shortly.
Find out what Jimmie Johnson had to say about his Racing future
Jimmie Johnson said he can’t see himself stopping racing anytime soon. He pointed out that his top division racing days are coming to an end. He said, “I can’t see a day where I’m not driving something. I think that, at the pointy end of the spear in NASCAR and IndyCar, and even the top division in sports car racing — I think those days are numbered,”.
The 7 times cup champion said that though he wants to race in a series like the IMSA, they aren’t any spots available for taking. He said, “It’s just so expensive and so competitive and on the IMSA side, there aren’t even seats available to get into a car, so that might just self-correct on its own. But once that’s done, there are still so many cars I want to drive and race,”.
Jimmie Johnson pointed out that he is eagerly waiting to know where he is part of HMS’s LeMans lineup. He said, “I’m still working hard on LeMans; I think that’s one of my top pillars. They still haven’t released who that list is, and believe me, I’m pounding on every door I can just to know and understand,”.
Jimmie Johnson said that he wants to continue racing in NASCAR IndyCar. He also said he also has some off-road racing offers as well. He said, “Clearly, I’m still working on the IndyCar side. I’m hoping for some NASCAR races. My friends in the off-road world have been calling. I’ve been offered a Mint 400 ride. I’ve been offered a ride at Crandon. I’ve been offered Chili Bowl,”.
