Front Row Motorsports has announced that Travis Peterson will join the No. 34 team as Michael McDowell’s new crew chief. He has been a race engineer at RFK Racing for the last five years. Peterson has worked with Hendrick Motorsports and JRM in the past. He is replacing Blake Harris, who left the team to join HMS as Alex Bowman’s new crew chief.

Front Row Motorsport was one of the most improved teams in the 2022 season. They were the front runners of the midfield teams. Along with rookie Todd Gilliland, McDowell led the FRM garage to a productive year. The No:34 was the most consistent team in terms of car reliability.

They lead the list of most laps completed this year, with champion Joey Logano coming second. The 12 Top 10 finishes and the P23 finish in the championship make this season a big success for Michael McDowell and his crew, and they are hoping to continue the same in 2023.

Jerry Freeze, The General Manager of FRM, wants Peterson to move the team in the same direction. He said, “The past two seasons, Front Row Motorsports has seen success, and we’re taking the following steps forward. We know that Travis is a person that can immediately come in, take the baton, and continue to move the No. 34 team to the front,”.

The final piece left for the FRM garage to start preparing for the 2023 season is hiring a new Crew Chief for the No:38 team. Freeze said, “We also made several changes internally to help with car preparation and engineering for all our race cars and trucks. Our final piece is finding a new leader for the No. 38 team. We’re confident that with these changes, we’ll be even better next season,”.

Peterson pointed out that the FRM has been making headways in the NASCAR grid with impressive performances. He said, “I think there are many people in the NASCAR garage who are noticing what Front Row Motorsports has accomplished with the new car and their truck program,”.

Travis Peterson couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to lead a team with championship potential and wants to fight for wins and playoffs next year. “This is an opportunity to come into a winning and championship organization and help take that next step of getting more wins in the Cup Series and be in the Playoffs,”.

Becoming a crew chief is a dream come true for Peterson. He said, “I’m ready to get to work. I’ve always had the goal of becoming a crew chief, and now I’m ready to take advantage of the opportunity,”.
