Rodney Childers is an American NASCAR Cup Series Crew Chief and former car racing driver. Currently, he is the Crew Chief for the No.4 Ford Mustang, driven by Kevin Harvick at Stewart-Haas Racing. Before transitioning to engineering operations, Childers himself was a racing driver. He competed in the World Karting Association at the age of 12.
Before moving to stock cars, Childers won 5 national championships and 7 state championships. Between 1999 and 2002, Childers competed in the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series and the Hooters Pro Cup Series. He competed in his sole Xfinity Series race at the 2000 Myrtle Beach 250, in the No.49 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Jay Robinson Racing.
Childers retired from competing as a driver and became a mechanic with Penske-Jasper Racing in 2003. He became Crew Chief to Scott Riggs in 2005. In 2014, Childers joined Stewart-Haas Racing as Kevin Harvick’s Crew Chief. The pairing won the Cup Series title in their first year together. Since then, the duo has won 36 races and 25 poles.
