The NASCAR Cup Series race last weekend at Sonoma Raceway witnessed some wild encounters, with the biggest one being Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez getting wrecked by his teammate Ross Chastain. The Mexican-American, who is set to leave the team at the end of 2025 season, was furious with the Florida native and even threatened to wreck him.

Despite Ross Chastain and his crew immediately apologizing for the incident, things between the dup were tense and the racing community didn’t give the racer any break owing to his infamous past. Ahead of the Dover weekend, the No:1 Chevy driver has publicly addressed the situation yet again and given and update.

He and Daniel Suarez had conversations regarding the dram ahead of the race week and seems to squash any beef that is left between them. The duo has been together since 2022 and has produced some of the best moments of Trackhouse history. So, Chastain was determined to make sure one small incident is going to taint their relationship.

It is just conversations and I’m not gonna let one bad instance get in the way of a lot of good times. One bad time is not gonna affect that for me, and Daniel and I’s relationship will survive.

Ross Chastain said via NASCAR.com.

He admitted that the No:99 Chevy driver has all the right to be upset about the situation, just as the team as the choice he made was poor at that moment. That’s why he not only spoke to Suarez, but the racers crew chief as well to make sure it isn’t going affect their so far productive relationship with just 16 races left in the season.

I wrecked him, I mean, he should be upset, that team should be upset. So, I went to the crew chief and him, and wanted them to make sure they knew that they knew. I wanted to make sure that, like, it was the last thing I wanted to do.

Ross Chastain added.

Talking about how wreck occurred, Ross Chastain admitted that he was too fast in the breaking zone, he realized too late and couldn’t react fast enough to avoid contact. Regardless of the situation, there is now way for a driver to make excuses for wrecking his teammate and Trackhouse had that conversation with it’s racers.

And for the first half of the brake zone, I thought I was fine. And then the second half of the brake zone, I realized I’m going too fast, and I should have reacted better, and I didn’t. So that’s just a non-negotiable to wrecking, spinning teammates out. We had conversations this week.

Ross Chastain asserted.

Ross Chastain shares how he is representing millions of US farmers in NASCAR

In a different conversation ahead of the weekend, Ross Chastain shared his thoughts on what he represents racing in NASCAR. The No:1 Chevy Camaro driver hails from a family of farmers in Florida, who has been growing Watermelon for generations.

His iconic post-race celebration alludes to this fact, which earned him the nickname the Watermelon man. He races in NASCAR as a representative of the family as well as the millions of famers that are part of the agricultural industry in the USA.

A lot of what I want to do now is tell the stories. I want to tell our family’s story. I think I’ve done a decent job of that, but also other farmers.

Ross Chastain told Farm Journal‘s agweb.com.

As the veteran racer said, he has done a solid job being an ambassador of farmers on the race track and winning Cup races for them. Still, he got more to do for them, including winning a Cup Series championship for them.
