Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen produced another magical run on Sunday at Charlotte Roval, securing his fifth road course win of the season with a massive 15+ second’s lead. But at the same time his teammate Ross Chastain was experiencing another major heartbreak, as he got eliminated from R-12.

There is no one but Ross Chastain to blame for the elimination, as despite two bad pit-stops he was in the position to score more points than Joey Logano, who he was fighting for the one position left in R-8. But on the final lap, he let Denny Hamlin to overtake him and in a desperate attempt to take the lead, he cleared out the No:11 JGR driver, while spinning himself out.

This killed him momentum and stripped him of any chances of making into the next round. It wasn’t the result that was expected from hi by Trackhouse and all of its partners, with his mistakes in the pit-road being a major reason for his disappointment. The two pit-cycle towards the end was pretty disappointing by the racer.

I’d restart the whole day. For our Busch Chevy, Trackhouse Racing, they expect so much more out of me. To speed on pit road, I went off the end of pit road and didn’t turn. I thought I had more room and just trying to get to the yellow line, and just completely started the downfall there, and then came off out of the pit stall and double-clicked up into third.

Further talking about the terrible unforced errors, the veteran admitted that he let down all of the 200 employees at Trackhouse on Sunday after they gave him a significantly faster car. He was hired by boss Justin Marks, to lead the team to the champion and for the second year in row he isn’t close to making the final four, which in his words is unacceptable.

Unforced errors. Just terrible. It’s heartbreaking for almost 200 employees at Trackhouse… Justin [Marks] hired me to carry this 1 car and drive it, and be a leader, and I just completely unraveled our day. We definitely had the speed…Not acceptable.

In the same conversation, Chastain shared his thoughts on how he going to race for the remaining four races of the 2025 season. He pointed out that the only positive he has from the weekend is that Trackhouse is now consistently building some fast cars. If he was better in decision making on Sunday, he could have taken advantage of the situation.

So, I can go to bed knowing that they’re building me the best I can be, but I got to make those right decisions in those moments where I’m not on autopilot, but when I come out of the pit stall, I’m just getting to my lights and I pulled twice. When I went to the end of pit road, I didn’t turn because I wanted to get to the end of the yellow line, and I needed to just turn the wheel.

He finds it too disappointing and terrible to not deliver for the team. Chastain finds it hard that he wasn’t able to take advantage of not only his team’s effort, but also the effort he has personally put in over the years to become a better racer.  He is working on moving on and get the better of himself in the upcoming week.

It’s really simple. It’s terrible to get to this level and not perform. When you watch, and you learn, and you study for half your life to get here, to fail is a terrible feeling right now. I will wake up tomorrow and go right back to work.

Ross Chastain added.

The comments from the No:1 Chevy driver proves he had everything to get into the next round and if he hadn’t made the three big mistakes. He can redeem himself from the incident by producing strong runs and securing at least one more win before the end of the 2025 season.
