The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season has season Carson Hocevar getting involved in some major controversies and last week was no different. Lats week at Darlington he wrecked Brad Keselowski and the majority in the racing community is unhappy with the racer over the aggression.
Spire Motorsports owner Jeff Dickerson talked about the drama on his recent appearance on the The Gluckcast podcast and asserted that he or his team has no plans to change his driver’s personality. He highlighted how what’s happening now with the No:77 driver has happened to many of past racer and resulted in them getting neutered often.
It’s like sometimes these conversations. Whether privately or publicly or through the media, essentially they’re saying, ‘Will you just change him? Will you guys just change him? Don’t you know that there’s a script that these guys follow? Don’t you know, they come in like this, but they eventually get neutered?’
Jeff Dickerson said recently.
They have no plans to change their driver, as they know the unique personality is what makes Carson Hocevar who he is. Jeff Dickerson doesn’t want the youngster to be another driver with personality that was forced to become one of the many regular drivers in the sport.
That’s what we hear. Like, just so we’re all clear, that’s not what we’re going to do. We’re not trying to change Carson. I don’t mean to disappoint everybody, but we’re not changing him. He’s not going to be another personality that comes into this sport.
Jeff Dickerson added via The Gluckcast.
Further talking about the point, the team owner asserted that he will make sure the youngster won’t end up another PR friendly racer in the sport, losing the IP that makes him a superstar. They want to build their team around the dynamic character Hocevar is.
It’s like this is not going to be another carcass of a personality that we’re going to get him in a polo shirt and we’re going to get him in khakis. And that’s not what’s about to happen. So, if that’s what everybody’s expecting from us, I’m sorry, that’s not what it is. Can the PR staff have one Monday off?
Jeff Dickerson asserted.
Carson Hocevar has the full support of Jeff Dickerson
In the same conversation later, Dickerson asserted that Carson Hocevar is the future of the organization and the he has their unequivocal support. Everything else is comes second to the team and the driver.

But again, I just want to make sure again: two things can be true. Carson is the face of our organization. We stand behind him unequivocally. And let’s just make sure the main thing is the main thing.
Jeff Dickerson said.
The comments from the team owner shows why Hocevar doesn’t care much about how the rest of the community feels about him and how he continues to race aggressive without a care. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming years.
