Ty Gibbs has suffered from a woeful outing in the Cup Series in the 2025 season. Joe Gibbs‘ grandson has been unable to emerge victorious in any races this year and remains winless. Gibbs has still achieved nine top ten finishes and four top-five finishes so far in this season. Although the current situation keeps getting worse for the 22-year-old, 23XI Racing driver, Tyler Reddick provides some comfort to the former.
Despite dismal results in the Cup Series and no race wins yet, Ty Gibbs has still won the inaugural In-Season Tournament and the lucrative million-dollar prize. Gibbs’ best results this year come as a P3 finish at the recent Bristol Motor Speedway. Tyler Reddick, who has worked hard and climbed through the ranks of NASCAR and is now battling in the Cup Series, has weighed in on the 22-year-old’s mediocre season so far.
Tyler Reddick pointed out that driving and performing well in the Cup Series was really tough compared to driving in the Truck Series. Reddick insisted that in the Truck Series, he was able to win races and contend for the title, but the top step of NASCAR was a completely different challenge. The 23XI Racing star highlighted that all the little things and decisions mattered a lot in the pinnacle of stock racing.
The Cup Series is just really tough, obviously. When I ran the Trucks, I was able to win some races and even have a shot at the championship. The series worked out for me a couple of times. But when you take that last step up, all the little things matter so much more—the details, the decisions you have to make in the race car. They make all the difference.
Tyler Reddick said on the Door Bumper Clear podcast.
Tyler Reddick continued that not only Ty Gibbs, but other drivers who were relatively new in the Cup Series were bound to face difficulties to get accustomed to the differences of the category. Reddick highlighted that he wouldn’t even consider these drivers as rookies, as many had been battling for multiple years for their first race win in the Cup Series. The 29-year-old commented that the pressure would eat a driver up if they weren’t careful and let their performances get the best of them.
It’s just tough, man. Not just Ty (Gibbs), but others too—you can’t even call some of them rookies anymore. Some have been doing this for a couple of years and are still trying to win that first race. This deal will eat away at you if you’re not careful.

Tyler Reddick suggests Ty Gibbs how to bounce back after a bad week
Ty Gibbs will need to put forth better performances in the coming season and prove his racing mettle to the grid. Team owner Joe Gibbs has already revealed that patience is out the window when it comes to his grandson and his NASCAR performances. Despite current difficulties, Tyler Reddick has suggested to Gibbs on how to bounce back after a dismal outing on any given particular race weekend.

Tyler Reddick asserted that there was always bound to be great pressure on a Cup Series driver to perform well and win races. However, it was extremely hard to keep winning races, especially amid all drivers being extremely dominant.
As such, Reddick noted that after a difficult week, it was necessary to go back to basics and question why he loved the sport and racing in it. Ty Gibbs can start over in the next race weekend and forget the past woes, as it would definitely help him keep improving his results.
The pressure and the expectations are always there. As a driver, when you come into the Cup Series, you want to win races—but it’s extremely hard. It’s important, especially after tough weeks like the one we just experienced, to go back to the basics. Remind yourself why you love it, why you do it, and just kind of start over. The weight of it all—the expectations—can really eat away at you.
Tyler Reddick noted.
Ty Gibbs has a massive opportunity to shine in NASCAR, something which can be greatly attributed to his grandfather Joe Gibbs. Although Gibbs did not make it into the playoffs, he can still put forth his strong suit and achieve the best possible results. The 22-year-old will return to racing in the 2026 season and hopes to have a much better outing in the coming season.
