The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to start with Daytona 500, “the great American race” at the Daytona International Speedway. The race is set to feature 41 drivers, with four times Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves taking the addition slot taking advantage of the Open Exemption Provisional.
Joe Gibbs Racing debutant Chase Briscoe, who replaced Martin Truex Jr. after the champions’ retirement in 2017, secured the pole and will start upfront alongside 2021 Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric starting at P2. Dule 1 winner Bubba Wallace will start P3 alongside Legacy Motor Clubs’ Erik Jones at P4 and William Byron capping of the top-5.
The fans can watch the race on Fox Sports, who are the exclusive broadcasting partner of the Daytona 500. It is one of the 12 races they are set to broadcaster in the 2025 Cup season. The 200 laps 500-mile race will start at Feb 16 Sunday, 2.30 PM ET. It will have three stages with stage-1 and stage-2 featuring 65 laps, with the final stage having 70 laps.
February 14, Friday will have the Truck Series race, the third division, at 7.53 pm ET, with three stages of 20-20-60 laps each. The race will be broadcasted live on Fox Sports 1. February 15, Saturday will have the Xfinity Series race, at 5:10 pm ET. The three stages race with 30-30-60 laps each will be broadcasted live on CW.
Who has the best shot at winning the 2025 Daytona 500?
Superspeedway racing isn’t just about capability of racer as it demands the equal level of luck as well. This makes the Daytona 500 one of the most uncertain events in the Cup schedule. But there are some drivers that has the extra edge over their rivals, owing to their special understanding of Superspeedway racing.

Former winner Austin Cindric, who is starting P2 and is on fine form has the best shot at winning the race alongside William Byron, the defending race winner. Three times winner Denny Hamlin, two times winner Jimmie Johnson also has a good shot at winning, alongside veterans Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.
There is a significant possibility of first-time winners, with Bubba Wallace being a front runner alongside ex-Cup champion Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney. Tricon Garge’s Martin Truex Jr. who is attempting his last Daytona 500 win might be a strong contender for the victory.
