“Ben Simmons is the icing on the cake” Stephen A Smith breaks down requirements for the Brooklyn Nets to contend for the title this season

The storyline in the Eastern Conference seems to be headed towards a very positive ending. Teams have never looked as stacked as they are right now, ever before. The obvious winners out of the East are either of the top five teams and the Brooklyn Nets. Now, even though they are significantly lower than the contenders in the conference, it still does not exclude the fact that they have the best roster in the NBA right now, if healthy that is.
On the top end, we have the Miami Heat who have been dominating under the leadership of Jimmy Butler and the defensive presence of Bam Adebayo. It is said that Victor Oladipo may debut this season after having to undergo two major quadriceps surgeries. The player has been taking part in five on five practice games and will go into further reviewing soon.
The Chicago Bulls are another obstacle for the Brooklyn Nets as they seem very tight-knit and ready to fight. DeMar DeRozan has worked wonders for the team and the player is slowly climbing up the MVP ladder. In addition to this list, we have the defending champs, the Milwaukee Bucks who have high chances of repeating history once again. What will the Nets have to do to win the title?
Ben Simmons expected to take the Brooklyn Nets to the finals
Ben Simmons has been a mainstay in the NBA talks this season. The All-Star had not made his debut yet due to underlying issues that had risen within the Philadelphia 76ers franchise. Although not a lot has been revealed as to why Simmons remained hostile towards the Sixers but him forcing a move to the Nets may have been the best decision he has made for himself so far.
“The key to the entire Eastern Conference is Ben Simmons. If you can get the guy who was second in defensive player of the year, one of the best playmakers we have in the league. He fills a couple of weaknesses for the Nets. A body upfront that can defend also, an athletic player that can get in transition.”
Jalen Rose was very spot on with his analysis of the team’s requirements. According to Rose, Ben Simmons may have a very comfortable time in Brooklyn as his skill set only requires him to do what he is comfortable doing. Simmons is not a skilled shooter but the Nets have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, Patty Mills, and Joe Harris who can do just that. However, Simmons has been seen practicing shots with legendary shooter Kyle Korver.
Will Kyrie Irving be allowed to play home games soon?
Stephen A Smith chimed in on Jalen Rose’s take saying, “I think you’re missing the boat. It’s not about that, it’s about Eric Adams. He is the mayor on New York City. He is the guy that can lift the mandate in New York City that would make Kyrie Irving eligible to play inside of the Barclays center. That is the key to all of this.”
In addition to this, Smith also agreed that even though Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s offense can easily bring wins to their record, Ben Simmons is simply an “icing on the cake” that the roster needed as a nudge to move ahead. Along with Simmons, they have Seth Curry as a shooting threat and Andre Drummond as a weapon within the paint. The fate of this team depends upon the availability of the players.
