Best NBA free agents 2023-24: Every player available in the upcoming offseason

Free Agency is an integral part of the player’s contract in the NBA off-season. In simple words, a free agent player is free to sign with any team they want based on an offer a team makes. The player is eligible to sign with alternate franchises and is not under a specific team with a specific term. However, there are different types of free agents based on the expiration of their existing contracts.

An unrestricted free agent (UFA) is free to sign with any team they would like. Their contract is over, and therefore they are not obligated to sign with their former team in any way whatsoever. A restricted free agent (RFA), on the other hand, may sign a contract with another team. However, their original team has the right to match the contract to keep them with their franchise. In this scenario, teams need to extend qualifying offers to their restricted free agents in order to be able to match the contracts they receive from other teams. If they fail to do so, a restricted free agent becomes unrestricted.

While the certainty of a player’s will to switch teams using free agency is not guaranteed, many fans and critics speculate those who wish to move. For starters, after a disappointing season with the Dallas Mavericks, Kyrie Irving is expected to move out. Moreover, there are also rumors of Draymond Green moving to the Los Angeles Lakers from the Golden State Warriors.
