Bulls News: Shannon Sharpe picks Lonzo Ball as a better play than younger brother, LaMelo

Lonzo Ball and LaMelo Ball

During Lonzo Ball’s stint with Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans, the 24-years-old marquee shooter was never able to cement his place as one of fundamental players in either team. However, after joining Chicago Bulls ahead of the start of NBA 2021-22 Season, he has been sensational. Which had made analyst Shannon Sharpe speak highly of him and even compared him to his younger brother, LaMelo Ball.

Lonzo has not only been the primary ball handler for Bulls, but has even led their scoring charts when the team has been in dire need of inspiration. Alongside, Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls have not only improved their defensive skill-set but has dominated star-studded teams on the offensive end as well. Which has led many hoop fans speak highly of Lonzo Ball, one of which now, is Shannon Sharpe.

“I think he is, and I’ve always thought Lonzo was a better player. I think LaMelo has a higher ceiling.”

Shannon Sharpe went into more depth about how Lonzo dealt with lofty expectations after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. Lonzo grew up in Southern California and played college basketball at UCLA. Sharpe believes Lonzo is finally in the perfect situation for the point guard to showcase his skills.

“I just thought that coming to L.A., being from L.A. … and having the pressure of (former Lakers legend) Magic Johnson saying that his number is going to hang from the rafters … I just thought that was a lot. Now, he’s in an ideal situation, and he gets to do what he does.”

Having said that, be it Lonzo or LaMelo, it is safe to say that both these brothers have looked mightily impressive in the 2021-22 season so far. Which could be huge for them in being selected as an All-Star in the season.
