“It’s personal now. I have so much vengeance coming into this league”: Deandre Ayton Hits Back at His Critics
Chris Paul Deandre Ayton Suns
Despite putting so much and achieving some things, people often downplay Deandre Ayton’s hard work. The Pheonix Suns had an amazing last year. They appeared for an NBA after 18 last years. Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Cameron Johnson lead the front of the phoenix suns against the Milwaukee Bucks. Unfortunately, they didn’t win against them but they gained a lot of respect and appreciation.
It’s a feast that tasted the sweetest when tasted after 18 years. Neither the amount of joy can be matched nor the pressure. The suns weren’t even out of that shinning period and the backlash of people started. People called it a fluke but this didn’t sit right with the Phoenix Sun’s Centre Deandre Ayton.
When the reporters asked him how does he feel to have constantly questioned their credibility not only as a team but also as players, he replied by saying, “All that blood and sweat and tears and the sacrifices our team made and you’re trying to say it was a fluke. It’s personal now. I have so much vengeance coming into this league. I’m fed up. That’s just my energy right now.”
The Phoenix Suns haven’t offered Deandre Ayton an extension yet.
It is causing quite a buzz as the Phoenix Suns haven’t really offered a contract extension to their 2018 first pick Deandre Ayton yet. The reason could be as per the sources that Deandre Ayton is not accepting any offers made to him that are less than his peers who were drafted alongside him in 2018. The list includes Dallas Luka Doncic, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Denver’s Michael Porter Jr., and Atlanta’s Trae Young.
Deandre Ayton, who is 23-years-old, was a key player in the Suns’ run for the NBA final but the Suns still don’t believe that Ayton’s offer is acceptable. The Sun believes that Ayton isn’t at par with his peer draftmens and doesn’t deserve to be included in that. Nonetheless, the contract season is coming to its end and if no contract is made to Ayton then he may become a restricted free agent next summer.
The Phoenix Suns are facing the LA Lakers on 7th October. With everything at stake in the NBA 2021-22 Season, the Suns will look to make a steady and firm start since the beginning in order to stamp their claim for champion even in this season. Especially after the likes of Golden State Warriors also having Klay Thompson back after 2 years, it will be interesting to see hoe the Suns plan out their action surrounding their marquee players. And more importantly how does coach Monty Williams uses Deandre Ayton.
