Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors is slowly making himself a household name. If his menacing defense was anything to go by, a freakish dunk in the Monday night game against the Miami Heat will definitely help this cause big time.
The Miami Heat hosted the Toronto Raptors on Monday, coming out with a close 104-99 win over the Raptors. For the Heat, Jimmy Butler recorded a triple-double, having 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the game. Tyler Herro continued his impactful performances off the bench. He scored 23 points, going 8-16 from the field.

For the Raptors, Fred VanVleet led the scoring with 22 points in the game, with four rebounds and four assists. Pascal Siakam has had another 10-assist game after recording a triple-double in the previous one. He finished with 18 points, 10 assists, 5 steals, and 6 rebounds. Scottie Barnes had 16 points and six assists to his name.

During the game, in the 4th quarter, Scottie Barnes grabbed a defensive rebound and stepped on the gas pedal. He went speeding to the other end coast to coast. He ended the play with a ferocious dunk. The momentum was such that after dunking the ball, he was sent crashing into a courtside fan, taking Heat’s Tyler Herro and Caleb Martin with him. Scottie took to Twitter to apologize to the lady for the trouble or hurt caused.
Scottie Barnes was the 4th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He is currently averaging 14.5 points per game, 2nd most among the rookies, only after Evan Mobley. He has a defensive rating of 110.7, 2nd best among the rookies, only after Evan Mobley again. He is shooting at 47% from the field and 31% from the three-point range.
The Toronto Raptors are currently the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference, with a 21-20 season record. The Miami Heat on the other hand are 2nd in East, with an impressive 28-16 record.
