“I Thought He Sucked”: Joel Embiid Makes Honest Revelation on Georges Niang

The Philadelphia 76ers have been without their Australian playmaker, Ben Simmons since the start of the NBA 2021-22 Season. Yet the Joel Embiid led side has been at their very best courtesy to all the starters and bench players performers. One of which is, Georges Niang to whom Joel Embiid thought of an ordinary player. To be precise Embiid thought Niang ‘sucked’ before we ended up playing alongside him.
The Philadelphia 76ers star was evident is stating his new found respect for George Niang. Who scored in double-digits in the team’s first 10 against the Chicago Bulls, who are deemed to be one of the teams to beat in the 2021-22 season. Moreover, Joel Embiid, himself has been at his very best and says that his outlook of Niang has completely changed.

“I used to think he sucked, honestly,” admitted Joel Embiid on his new Sixers teammate, Georges Niang. “Obviously, on this team he’s doing way more than [shooting 3s]. What I’m impressed with is he’s a competitor. He brings so much joy to all of us, on and off the court. I’m just glad I have him.”
To those who are not aware, Niang has been a surprisingly valuable contributor for the Sixers this season. The NBA veteran playing in his 6th season in the league, is averaging a career-high 11.9 points per game, nearly double his previous high. The 28-years-old has also provided a steadying presence, keeping the ball moving while minimizing mistakes by averaging just 0.5 turnovers per game.

Lastly Niang has been key as the Sixers have missed Tobias Harris for the last four games due to testing positive for the coronavirus. In that span, Georges Niang has averages 16.2 points per game to go along with four rebounds. However, it is always a positive to be among the good books of a marquee star like Joel Embiid.
