“I’m not accustomed to sitting down for long stretches” Russell Westbrook takes a jibe at the Lakers for his below-par performances

Los Angeles Lakers along with the centre of criticism Russell Westbrook have struggled all along the season, and specifically the past few months as the Lakers have had performances which can be called nothing less than slumpy and, in turn have faced heat and nothing but heat for the sub-par performances even with big names like LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook, the biggest super-team this season initially referred to as the big three.

Russell Westbrook was injured in the Lakers’ match against the Milwaukee Bucks which the Lakers lost by an embarrassing 30-point margin, which was nothing less than disappointing, and what was special about the match was the Russell Westbrook complained of lower-back pain in the later stages of the match, due to which he wasn’t able to close the game for his team.

Russell Westbrook then went on to miss the Lakers’ back-to-back game against the Portland Trailblazers, which the Lakers again lost by a 2-point margin, further worsening the team’s record this season to a 26-30 which is sub-par not just for the Lakers, but any team for that matter.

Russell Westbrook now seemed to be hinting at the Lakers’ management for his lower back injury which is resulting in him missing the games and now that he has also complained of not being allowed to close the games for the team even after the performances he feels are “worthy” of him getting the chance to do that, it will now be tough to see how the Lakers manage the tussle between the team and the players, while also intending to place the team first.

Russell Westbrook has been actively giving statements against the Lakers’ coach Frank Vogel and the Lakers’ management, which he thinks are responsible for his slumpy performances and his new injury which have resulted in him missing a few matches.

Russell Westbrook in a statement made by him said, “It comes and goes. … I’m not accustomed to sitting down for long stretches”, which somewhat goes in alignment with his previous allegations of the team not allowing him to close the matches, which is something that has been the responsibility of Russell Westbrook to do despite the team that he plays in, as it is playing style, and that is how he has always been playing which has resulted in him being the Russell Westbrook that we know him for right now.

Russell Westbrook seems to be implying that his injuries and his slumpy performances are a result of the situation the Lakers management have put him in. His playing style is of controlling the game on his own, making plays himself and closing the games with dominant performances while leading the way for his team to win. Playing alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James seems to be tough for Russell Westbrook as he is unable to play in an individualistic manner and has to make plays for LeBron and AD for them to score, while he struggles on court, which has resulted in him facing a lot of criticism.

With what seems to be shots fired towards the Lakers and Frank Vogel, it will be interesting to see how the team manages this tussle between an important player and the coach, as the coach places his team before the player, while the player struggles to make a place for himself.

Los Angeles Lakers this season

The Los Angeles Lakers led by LeBron James have done nothing but struggled throughout the season, after which, their chances of playing in the Playoffs seem to be very narrow and they will require nothing less than a miracle in order for them to get into the playoffs and get a shot at the Championship, which right now, seems like a farfetched dream.

The Lakers need to change their strategies and need to come up with a new playing style as the previous one has resulted in nothing less than misery for the team.

Russell Westbrook’s highlights

Each player has had a good performance individually while those performances have not been able to help the team in any shape or form as even LeBron and AD have scored 30+ points in matches which the Lakers have lost, highlighting that the problem seems to be bigger than what the Lakers management can see.
