Over the years, the league has witness numerous amounts of change in terms of playing style, player involvement in signings and trades so on and so forth. Another common occurance in the league in the last decade is the formation of super teams and rather than building a one.

Iman Shumpert had something to say about his former teammate during their time as players of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Shumpert made a controversial statement while being interview on a YouTube podcast known as the Bootleg Kev. His words were directed towards LeBron James , the 18th year veteran and possible greatest of all time.

Shumpert had a very valid point put forth on why he believes LeBron James changed the game for the worse and it was the formation of super team in Miami with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. He claimed that prior to the formation of the team back in 2010, the league was more about the game itself rather than being viewed as the business that it is.

According the former player, the fans were less interested in the business aspect of the league in instigating offseason moves or just being bothered about where their favorite player should play next and why they must make the move. He further went on the say that following the apparent change, team loyality “meant nothing” to the NBA world.

The future of the league

Iman Shumpert

Ever since the formation of the Miami Heat’s super team, teams have tried to replicate it multiple times as you would have seen recently with the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors signing Kevin Durant as well as LeBron James once again who managed to help Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony to sign with his Lakers team.

It seems as if Shumpert has a lot of validity to his words as he subtly tried to say that the league has turned away from step by step team building. Teams nowadays are trying to signing new players or second options with a big reputation in order to win a title within that first year, which is also something Shumpert had grazed upon during the interview.
