It is no lie that Kevin Durant’s exit left Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in shambles because they had one of the equipoise teams in the league at that time. The whole Warriors roster wreaked havoc in the league because they blasted off all their opponents both in offense and defense which further pushed them ahead to also earn the title of one of the most deadly teams.

The Warriors definitely did an amazing job at assembling a championship-worthy team but it was also nerve-wracking to watch the champions fall back down to nothing.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green Co. led the Warriors to the 2015 NBA championship but the very next near they fell short to the Cleveland Cavaliers and lost the 2016 finals to LeBron James. The Warriors knew the roster was complete and competent but an addition could make them invincible, and this is where Kevin Durant comes into the picture. The 2013 MVP was signed with the Warriors in 2016 and along with Stephen Curry ad Co., they let the Warriors two consecutive NBA champions (2017, 2018).

But who knew the Warriors were yet to hit the biggest obstacle. High on performativity, the Warriors barged in the 2019 NBA Final but two back-to-back ACL ruptures just smashed the Warriors’ three-peat dream to pieces. Both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant suffered an ACL injury and were benched, leaving everything on Stephen Curry.

Soon after the warriors lost the 2019 NBA Champion to the Toronto Raptors, news hit the headlines of every media channel that “Kevin Durant is going to leave the Golden State Warriors.”The news caught everyone off guard considering how well the Warriors were performing as a team and went to compete in three NBA Final consecutively.

With Kevin Durant’s departure and Klay Thompson’s absence, the blue and yellow experienced their darkest years. The former NBA champions weren’t even able to qualify for the payoff and Curry had to bear all.

The former MVP talked about how it affected the team when he said down for an interview with the GQ.

Curry said, “The injuries that took us to a pretty crazy free fall right before the pandemic. And it’s weird because if you look at it in those two years, it was tough to be patient and tough for me, just staying locked in and motivated.”

But the dark clouds are finally being replaced by the sunny sky as the Golden State Warriors are on a roll. The Warriors are cruising through the season with destructive performance.

Reining the Western conference, the Warriors are one of the most favored candidates for this year’s trophy. And, with Klay Thompson’s return to the roster, the Warriors will take the league with a more vigorous storm.
