“Keep that in mind”: Grant Hill gives major reality check to Klay Thompson with return on the cards

One of the most awaited returns is all set on the cards of 2021-22 NBA season as Klay Thompson will hit the court after more than 2 years. With the Golden State Warriors doing ever so well in the current season, Thompson’s return could be make or break in the team’s bid to make a run for the championship. Moreover, if the splash could connect once again, there seems to be no team who could stop the Dubs from adding to their trophy cabinet.

However, Grant Hill has given a reality check to Klay Thompson as his return is less than a month away. The Hall of Famer, Hill is no stranger to injuries and is well aware how one needs to bounce back after suffering from a long physical bruise. Now with the Dubs fighting hard to maintain the top spot in the Western Conference, Hill wants Thompson to be aware of the situation.

According to Hill, Thompson should not force anything and just let his everything get back to normal even if it takes “months.”

“We’ve come so far in terms of recovery and the methods with surgery, so I think he’ll be fine,” Grant Hill said of Thompson via NBC Sports. “The most important thing is you can’t get it all back right away, in some cases. So as long as he can put together consecutive days, consecutive weeks, consecutive months of health — the basketball part is going to be there — I think he’ll be fine.”

“I think he’s in a great situation,” he continued. “Team is doing well. He’ll come right in and fit right in and it will be fun to watch. Except when you play against him.”

Having said that, Thompson is not yet cleared to simply participate in the NBA’s fast-paced action. Moreover, coach Steve Kerr indicated that the marquee All-Star guard will be making a couple of G-League appearances first in order to get to his best shape before joining the team’s roster.
