Lakers News: Charles Barkley gets brutally honest upon Anthony Davis’ form in 2021-22 season

The Los Angeles Lakers are far from justifying their star-studded squad in the 2021-22season. Having lost more than 6 games without LeBron James, the Laker Nation has been left frustrated as marquee players Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony have not been able to close out games. On the same note, Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley has delivered his honest taken upon the form of AD.

With the Lakers struggling, certain section of fans wanted coach Frank Vogel to part ways, which was surely not taken in well by Charles Barkley as he decided to reveal the ’culprit’ in the purple and gold army for such a lackluster season so far. Not a major surprise upon who Barkley called out? It was Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis.

What was opinionated by Charles Barkley on Anthony Davis?

“Now you all are crossing the line, because I really like Frank Vogel,” Barkley said on NBA on TNT. He said that Vogel is a “terrific coach.” He also recalled earlier in the season when fans blamed Russell Westbrook for the Lakers’ problems. “Russ is learning,” Barkley said in Westbrook’s defense.

Moreover, Charles Barkley said that he knew from the beginning of the season that Anthony Davis’ performance was going to be a testament to the Lakers’ season.

“In my opinion, I blame Anthony Davis…You ain’t doing what you’re supposed to be doing. I said on the first night, if the Lakers were going to be any good, it was all going to be on you. Anthony Davis, you gotta play better.”

With Lakers having a 12-12 record before locking horns against the Boston Celtics, Anthony Davis needs to step up to take more responsibility for the purple and gold army being a veteran as compared to the other players in the roster. Given that he is only 28 years old, he is well within his prime to change the momentum for the 2020 NBA Champions, single handedly. Furthermore, will he be able to answer Charles Barkley by leading the Lakers against Boston Celtics? Only time will tell.
