Ever since LeBron James has returned from injury, the 36-years-old veteran has led the Los Angeles Lakers in every game. Might not be the leading scoring, but LeBron has always found a way to inspire his teammates to produce more in every given since their first win in the 2021-22 season. The latest of Los Angeles Lakers win came against Houston Rockets, wherein Kevin Porter Jr missed the game-winning 3-pointer at the Staples Center.
Unlike the previous encounter between the Rockets and the Lakers, both teams started with all guns blazing in this contest and were looking impossible to stop on the scoring end as they tallied a combine total of 134 points in the first half. Moreover, things were made interesting when the purple and gold were snatched away by 2 points as the officials failed to count the away team’s foul correctly.

Now, the insane spoken about record is that the Los Angeles Lakers managed to score 78 points from within the paint in this encounter, which is the most by any team in the 2021-22 season. This stat is consistent with how the Lakers have been feasting in the early part of the season. In fact, they rank number five in the entire league when it comes to “Percent of Points (Points in the Paint),” making full use of their big men as well as James and Russell Westbrook’s propensity to score underneath the basket.
Those who missed the game, the Houston Rockets were without Daniel Theis, leaving all 214 pounds of Christian Wood and rookie Alperen Sengun on their own against the Lakers’ big men to defend in the paint. Surprisingly, the Rockets still gave Los Angeles some serious scare, controlling most of the game until the veteran-laded group took control in the fourth quarter. LeBron James led the scoring barrage for the Lakers, finishing with 30 points on 13-of-21 shooting. While Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook managed to score 27 points each.
