“Magic Johnson couldn’t do what Kyrie Irving can”: Shannon Sharpe makes bold claim to elaborate Chauncey Billups’ claim
Shannon Sharpe on Kyrie Irving
When 2004 NBA Champion, Chauncey Billups regarded Kyrie Irving as the best Point Guard in the history of the league, there were surely going to opinions and thoughts based on the same. The most unique and bold one seems to be coming from the host of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe, who proclaimed that the Brooklyn Nets superstar is an all-rounder and can score from anywhere in the paint.
Moreover, Shannon Sharpe went onto suggest that NBA Hall of Famer and Legend Magic Johnson cannot even do stuff which the Ankle Breaker can. Knowing that Irving has the potential to carry an entire team? Is he the best Point Guard in the history? Hard to agree, but the floor is surely open for debate for the 2016 NBA Champion.
Shannon Sharpe gives huge verdict on Kyrie Irving being best PG
In a conversation with co-host Skip Bayless, Sharpe decided to vouch for Irving based on what Billups proclaimed, he stated, “I will not argue that. You talk about handles, being able to finish at the rim, Kyrie does it all. Magic Johnson couldn’t do what Kyrie can, but everybody would take Magic 10 times out of 10.”
To those who are not aware, Magic Johnson was known to be the best point guard since early days in the league, when he tortured marquee defenders with his agile and fast feet to score from anywhere in the paint. Many might suggest that Irving might be a better ball handler and would support Shannon Sharpe’s views on the same but is he better than Johnson being at his prime?
Having said that, ever since Chauncey Billups proclaimed Irving as the best point guard, the world of NBA and its fans have opinionated upon the same. But for the 2016 NBA Champion, such claims would not mean much as he revealed that his entire attention is working his way up with the Brooklyn Nets in the road games. Will he be able to justify this claim of Chauncey Billups? Only time will time.
