When Kyrie Irving got the green flag to join the Brooklyn Nets for their road games, fans were delighted. Having said that, he has got his own set of problems from Kyrie too.

Stephen A. Smith, the ESPN Analyst, on the show Quick Takes, had some more words for Kyrie Irving. Kyrie is having a good season thus far for someone who has not played in seven months. He is averaging 22 points per game, 5.4 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game this season having played in five games thus far. He is also shooting well, 50% from the field and 33% from downtown.

Stephen A. Smith talked about how Kyrie Irving is a superstar and heaped praises for his on-court skills. He quoted – “Kyrie is a superstar. I have said it several times before. He is one of the most gifted guards we have ever seen in the history of basketball. I believe in today’s NBA economy, he is worth $50 million a year. Easy. He is that spectacular”

But when asked whether or not can the Nets count on him and depend on him, Smith said – “You cannot. You can count on Kyrie Irving to be spectacular on [the] court…I would never give him a long-term deal again. Because you can not trust him to show up. [Do] You know when you can depend on Kyrie Irving? When you would look at the loaded doc area and you see the bus pull up and you see him get off the bus. It is a suspense that he gonna be on the bus. He might be sick, he might be injured, he might be mentally preoccupied.”

Smith is factually right as he said that basketball is not that important for Kyrie anymore. Kyrie has been vocal about it when he talked about his grandfather’s passing away. He couldn’t spend some final time with his grandfather due to playing basketball. This is one of the major reasons that has made Kyrie like he is today as he has grown even closer to his family. With a cause like that, it is impossible to debate the rights and wrongs of anything.
