The Golden State Warriors have been dealt a significant blow as they attempt to mount a comeback in their first-round playoff series against the Sacramento Kings. All-Star forward Draymond Green has been suspended for Game 3, which takes place on Wednesday night.
Green is suspended due to an incident that occurred during game 2 against the Sacramento Kings. In the fourth quarter of the game, he was seen stomping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis, which resulted in his ejection from the game.
As a result of the incident, Sabonis’ status for game 3 is uncertain. The NBA announced the suspension of Green on Tuesday night, citing his history of similar incidents with other players as a factor in their decision. Green’s absence in game 3 will be a significant loss for the Warriors.
In a statement to ESPN, NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars noted that Green “is a repeat offender weighs as heavy as anything.”
Green’s absence will be felt by the Warriors, who find themselves down 0-2 in the series. The team will need to find a way to overcome his absence and rally behind their other stars, including Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson if they hope to come back and win the series.
Warriors look to rally without Draymond Green
With Draymond Green suspended for Game 3, the Golden State Warriors will need to find a way to rally if they hope to stay alive in their first-round playoff series against the Sacramento Kings.
The Warriors are no strangers to playing without Green. The star forward has missed time due to injury and suspension in the past, and the team has found ways to win without him. However, his absence will be particularly challenging in this series, as the Kings have shown themselves to be a tough and resilient opponent.
Curry and Thompson have a history of stepping up in big moments, and they will need to do so again if the Warriors hope to come back and win the series. In addition, role players like Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II will need to step up and contribute in a big way.
The Warriors will have their work cut out for them on Thursday night, but with the talent and experience on their roster, anything is possible.
