After being criticized by Donald Trump, Brittney Griner finally breaks silence on when she’ll return to the WNBA for Phoenix Mercury

Brittney Griner is finally back on American Soil after being wrongfully detained for 294 days in Russia. The last ten months have been a battle for her and now she is finally back home and happy. Many aren’t a fan of the exchange which brought her back. As the Biden Administration had to give away “Merchant of Death,” Viktor Bout to bring Griner back.
This prisoner swap deal has divided the internet as many around the globe and guys like Andrew Tate, Donald Trump and Ben Askren aren’t a fan of the trade and are referring to it as a bad deal for the nation. But nothing can be changed now as Brittney Griner is back home and happy. She recently got released from the Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. Eight days after she was exchanged for Viktor Bout.
After leaving the medical center she spoke out for the first time. As via her personal handle on Instagram, Brittney Griner sent out a statement for everyone. Everyone who was around her journey during the past ten months. In the statement, BG thanked everyone rooting for her. Some of the special mentions were: Cherelle Griner, her family, Vince Kozar, her Russian legal team, President Biden, the Biden-Harris administration and many other organizations too.
Thanking everyone Brittney wrote: “It feels so good to be home! The last 10 months have been a battle at every turn. I dug deep to keep my faith and it was the love from so many of you. That helped keep me going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for your help. I am grateful to each person who advocated for me…”
Brittney also had a special message for President Biden who got her back as she wrote: “President Biden, you brought me home and I know you are committed to bringing Paul Whelan and all Americans home too. I will use my platform to do whatever I can to help you. I also encourage everyone that played a part in bringing me home to continue their efforts to bring all Americans home. Every family deserves to be whole.”
BG as of now is returning to her hometown to spend some time with her family. And, adding to all of that she has also mentioned about her return to the league. Where she’ll be again hooping and dominating for the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA.
Released Brittney Griner hints about her return to WNBA
Brittney Griner at the end of her statement hinted about her return which would be with the Phoenix Mercury this season itself. As she wrote: “I also want to make one thing very clear: I intend to play basketball for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury this season, and in doing so, I look forward to being able to say ‘thank you’ to those of you who advocated, wrote, and posted for me in person soon.”
Fans are already excited about her dominating return to the league. As Griner is already a respected and decorated superstar in the league with a very hard-to-match resume. And, from now onwards she’ll just be adding more to it. As from making it into the All-Rookie team to getting a spot in WNBA 25th Anniversary Team, Griner has already done it all.
